We started today with a beautiful run to the beach – Omaha Beach is an awesomely long stretch of golden sand which invites the Chariots of Fire theme tune to play on repeat in your head.

It was nice to have a momentary break from riding – even though we haven’t been on the road for too long just yet, we’ve found that it’s usually good to break into it gently and now we are excited to get back on the road tomorrow.

We all went for an exciting trip into Bayeux (ostensibly to see the tapestry but there was way too much of a queue so instead we had a fab wander around the cathedral (complete with flying buttresses and ornate paintings even on the ceilings), a hot dog and exploration of a local market, finishing off with a trip to the patisserie for some dough with sugar (beignettes?).

Back to camp for a lunch/nap/supermarket shop break. Laundry also got done today (🥳) and then we made time for yoga and some painting before heading to the beach.
This afternoon and evening we went for a beautiful walk down to the beach and had a fab time with a frisbee and beer/cider/chips shared by all. Today was a really lovely, happy holiday day.

It’s proving to be tough to keep up with documenting, working on tutoring and writing about while also trying to absorb as much family time as possible. Hopefully next week onwards allows for more time, but we are not willing to give up the precious time with family we have right now.
