#43 Home: a flying visit

In order to sort visa things, we headed home for a week at the end of May. The journey began at 6am in the mountains. We drove all the way up through France, anticipating stopping at a hotel about an hour away from the crossing. It was roasting hot the entire way through France, and we were very grateful for the air conditioning of the mighty Yeti. We shared the driving (which really means Tom drove 95% and Eliza 5%) and decided that actually, we had made good time so moved our crossing time and headed straight over to England. We arrived home to family at 10pm – not a bad drive!

Always happy to see our pets!

Day 1) the day was spent getting official things done, catching up with old colleagues and friends (set #1), and heading to Tom’s family.

Day 2) Tom’s graduation! Followed by a celebration at the pub with family.

Day 3) Supporting family at sports events and visiting friends (set #2) in Henley.

Proof we’re not always in hiking, running or motorbike gear!

Day 4) Brunch with friends (set #3), supper with family

Day 5) Getting motorbike stuff sorted, visiting friends (set #4) in Hampshire, forming a motorbike gang with Tom’s parents and godfather.

Not the most motorbike-gang-y image!

Day 6) supper with army friends (set #5)

Day 7) family time, packing up and supper with family at the Rusty Bicycle, completed with the day bookended with a wander around Oxford in the morning and evening.

Day 8) Headed off at 5am, back in Tignes at 9pm. All weather’s encountered on the way back, including a mammoth hail storm outside Aiguebelette.

STILL with snow!
